AI Gateway lets an application call Syncratic Ask through a secure API. Syncratic manages the model connection and governs what happens before and after the model call, so the application receives a useful answer without becoming responsible for model credentials, privacy enforcement, spend controls, or audit evidence.
Status: designed capability. AI Gateway is a planned capability highlight, not yet production-active. This page describes the designed behavior so you can evaluate the architecture, and the existing Ask API remains available throughout deliberate client migration.

Centralized governance
One tenant-controlled policy layer for approved applications, users, model capability, and access.
Privacy control
Privacy checks on supplied context and generated answers, with no exposure of credentials or provider endpoints.
Controlled knowledge access
An explicit choice between caller-provided context and authorized Syncratic federated knowledge. These sources are never silently mixed.
Predictable spend
Request token and context limits, rate and concurrency controls, and monthly token or currency budgets that deny over-limit calls before invocation.
Auditability
Correlated invocation IDs, safe traces, policy decisions, usage and cost records, and tenant-selected encrypted retention.
Provider independence
Applications use a Syncratic capability; tenant policy selects the approved model role and fallback route.
Two clear ways to use it
Context is an explicit choice, never a silent mix
Mode 1
Caller context
Designed for systems that bring their own evidence. The application supplies relevant context, and Syncratic Ask reasons only over that supplied context after policy and privacy checks. Syncratic tenant knowledge is not consulted.
Mode 2
Syncratic federated knowledge
For approved applications or users that need answers over connected enterprise knowledge. Existing tenant authorization, retrieval controls, and privacy policy determine what may be used.
The modes are intentionally separate. That separation makes data lineage clear for users, administrators, and auditors.
